Underperforming employees are not good for the company, however, with effective tactics, you can make them efficient again. Let us understand that there are checks and tools that the management can use time and time again to track down their underperforming employees. Rectifications are through common as no man is perfect, constant rectifications are not good signs for an employee. Efficiency and effectiveness must be maintained with every assigned work. Checking an employeeâs performance is no wrong, underperformers need constant motivation and training. A company cannot afford inefficient work and neither can keep firing employees, every organization wants to retain their employees. Having constant checks every now and then will be a big help to the company. Monitor the change and create an action plan for the underperforming employees. However, only 64% of the respondents in the survey felt that the approach to this was done in an effective way. Organizations should conduct performance assessment in an appropriate way that does not hurt an employeeâs dignity at a workplace. Be wary of only posting text and image updates to social networks which announce contracts awards etc. When you publish news without linking to your blog or news site, you have no opportunity to provide a call to action. Without a platform like a blog to showcase your news, your content will only have a one-off impact on the people you want to attract, if they see it at all. Managing the funnel: To make use of the talent pool your engagement campaign creates, you need a method of managing the funnel. In many cases a simple ATS will not suffice, you need a smart system that crosses the boundary between an ATS and a marketing CRM. Progressing the funnel: The aim of bringing people into your engagement funnel is to progress them through the stages of the funnel and eventually to convert these people into applicants and employees. Each step is likely to need a different type of content. The stages of a recruitment marketing funnel are usually: Awareness Above or at the top of the funnel, these people are gaining awareness of your employer brand. You want to make every effort to encourage these people to enter your relationship management system with appropriate calls to action. Consideration Within the funnel, they may not be candidates yet, but they are considering your company as an employer of choice. Having these people within your relationship management systems will allow you to reach out to them and discuss opportunities. Conversion The conversion point can be a person applying for a job, sending a speculative CV or asking an employee to refer them as a potential employee. You should have well-defined processes and methods of managing each of these to make sure you never miss out on a great candidate. Loyalty If you manage the recruitment process well and engage your applicants throughout you will gain employer brand loyalty from both people who become employees and unsuccessful candidates. Read on for Beths tips on how to cheer up your housemates: University is hard. Leaving university is hard. Both finding a grad job then actually having a grad job is hard. You know what else is hard? Washing up. Somehow dragging yourself round a supermarket for a food shop. Maintaining good grades, exercising and eating well, all whilst keeping your room clean and remembering to water your plants/ring your parents/reply to emails Im overwhelmed just listing all of this stuff out. If you feel like youve been struggling, look around. Youre probably living in a house full of people going through exactly the same. Even if youâre managing this week, odds are that someone is falling behind. Just under eight out of ten students (78%) have experienced mental health issues in the last year, according to an NUS survey last winter. The first step is self-care, and the next is speaking about it, and looking after others. So whether you think your flatmate is having a bad day, a bad week, or a bad few months (it happens, itâll be ok) here are some small things you can do to cheer up your housemates. Movie night! Sometimes its just good to take a break and spend some quality, casual time together. So grab some popcorn, (or the baked goods you might have made) and find a film on Netflix. Spend a few hours laughing (or crying if itâs a sad one) and take some well earned time off. Bake your troubles away The Great British Bake Off might have ended , but you can still take inspo from Mary Berry and bake something for your housemates, or even get them to help! Fairy cakes soothe the soul, and brownies lift moods instantly â" itâs a fact. Maybe go a step further and check out some cool, quirky sports societies together? Quidditch seems like a great way to get your housemate bonding time on. Buy them a treat A lot of these ideas seem to involve food, but eating well can be so important to elevate your mood. So you could buy your housemate a salad to cheer them upâ¦but perhaps something indulgent that they really love might work even better. A share bar of Galaxy does wonders. As does a bunch of flowers. Gypsophila or Carnations are cheap, last a while, and will make your friend smile every day as they bloom. Help them with chores If life is getting difficult, small tasks can start to build up and seem impossible to complete. Though you canât read a uni book for someone or write their essay, you can help with the little things. The surprise when someone has done your washing up is surely one of the best feelings in the world, plus it will make the entire kitchen look cleaner. Win win! One word: Tea When in doubt make tea. Or two cups of tea. That, coupled with a lending ear could help anybody. Letting someone talk about their problems can do wonders to improve their outlook. Thereâs something comforting about a hot drink, especially in the winter, that I strongly believe can lessen if not solve most minor panics. And when all fails, drink Itâs not healthy, and definitely not always a good idea. However as much as you can try to be productive and sort out your problems, sometimes the attitude of Iâm going to go out and have an amazing time with my pals can help. This can especially be needed if your housemate is stuck in their own head and is getting bogged down with a workload. Studying can wait till morning, so dance the night away. Changes In Procedures In the olden days, I used to fly ever couple of months. Back then, I would just run into the airport and jump on the plane. Well, it seemed pretty easy compared to today. Now I only fly once or twice a year. I am overwhelmed with the new guidelines and procedures. What happened to ticket agents at the main part of a terminal? There are kiosks nowwhere did all the people go who could answer my questions? Finding your gate number is easier now. The monitors showing flights are colorful and easier to read! Yeah! Over in security there are long snaky lines. I have to have my ID out, my toiletries in 3 oz. containers (and in a zip-lock baggy), and then take off my shoes. For the less experienced traveler and the traveling family, this creates great anxiety. I watched the veteran travelers zip right through while my family was still gathering their stuff and trying to get their shoes back on. I cant forget to mention that EVERY traveler had a phone. Usually a smart phone. (I have smart phone envy already). About half the travelers whipped out their laptops upon sitting down either at the gate or on the plane. I felt left-out without mine. I mention all these changes because job search and traveling have similarities. If it has been a while since youve last looked for a new job, you better find out what the new guidelines and procedures are. The best way to do this is to talk with friends whove recently flown into a new job. There are now thousands of websites and blogs providing job search advice. I would recommend you read as many as you can. A great compilation or magazine rack of blogs can be found at AllTop. The Unemployment Office has been replaced by automated procedures, just like the airline ticket agents. You might find it frustrating to not speak with someone in person. Persevere, find the loop holes and talk with other veteran travelers. There are long snaky lines at security points. On-line applications are used to weed out candidates. Learn what it is going to take to get yourself through this security. I happened to notice while flying, special privileges were given to flight crew. Last but not least, have your phone and laptop ready at all times. You need to stay connected. Whether your destination be for business or pleasure, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Social media and school bullying As weâve seen in the news lately, bullying at school and in college is getting more dangerous so to speak because of social media. This is why itâs important to teach our kids how to use social media carefully and effectively. Itâs a powerful tool that I use with my clients in the career arena but as weâve seen in recent news reports about bullying, itâs a powerful and sometimes dangerous tool when used in the wrong way personally. For parents reading this take the time to teach your kids about how to use social media and be careful with it. Help them understand that while it can be a useful and fun way to stay in touch with your friends, it is a tool that needs to be used with care just like anything else. For recent college grads in their career search â" be sure to educate yourself about how to use social media effectively and professionally in your job search. There are definite guidelines to follow and lines you donât want to cross. Networking is the BEST tool you can use in your job search, more than 60% of jobs are found through networking.
